Continuous Provision
What is Continuous Provision and Why We’ve Introduced It Across Our Schools
At Cygnus Academies Trust, we are committed to creating learning environments that inspire curiosity, independence, and a love for learning. That’s why we’ve launched Continuous Provision across all of our schools.
What is Continuous Provision?
Continuous Provision refers to the resources and opportunities that are consistently available in the classroom for children to explore and engage with throughout the day. These are carefully planned areas, such as reading corners, creative stations, and problem-solving zones: that allow pupils to revisit and build on prior learning at their own pace. It’s not just about having materials available; it’s about creating purposeful spaces that encourage exploration, critical thinking, and creativity.
Why Have We Introduced It?
We believe that learning doesn’t stop when a lesson ends. Continuous Provision ensures that children have ongoing access to meaningful activities that deepen understanding and develop essential skills. By embedding this approach across our schools, we aim to:
Promote independence: Children take ownership of their learning by choosing activities that interest them.
Support individual needs: Every child learns differently, and Continuous Provision allows for flexibility and personalised learning.
Encourage curiosity and creativity: Open-ended resources spark imagination and problem-solving.
Reinforce prior learning: Pupils can revisit concepts and apply them in new ways, strengthening retention.
This initiative reflects our commitment to providing high-quality education that nurtures confident, lifelong learners. We’re excited to see the positive impact Continuous Provision will have on our pupils’ engagement and achievement.
